Therapy Dogs

Dogs offer irreplaceable comfort during difficult times.  Research has shown that puppies and adult dogs can lower stress levels, can help and cope with grief and anxiety.

Therapy dogs come in all shapes and sizes! Some dogs it seems are especially suited for comforting people, whether friend or stranger, young or old.  â€‹

With the right temperament and training, these dogs can become certified therapy dogs and start volunteering and visiting communities such as hospitals, libraries, assisted living facilities, and even emergency disaster areas to help and comfort people in need.  A therapy dog team can help to relieve stress and loneliness with a wagging tail.

Our Therapy Dog Program highlights two very important aspects of our mission.  To help dog owners train their dogs to be well-mannered pets and to help promote the bond between people and their dogs.

Our carefully designed Therapy Dog Program helps interested dog owners prepare their dogs and themselves for work as a certified therapy dog team.

Therapy dogs are not service dogs.

While therapy dogs are working dogs, they are not Service Dogs.
Therapy dogs are not task trained in the traditional sense. Therapy dogs are obedience trained and trained in a few tricks to help reinforce good behaviors with children and give some more comfort to adults.
